Am back! A tribute to the life of one who has fought the good fight and has gone to a better place!

I am back to blogging after an 8 year Hiatus. It has been an eventful past 2 weeks for me. Well we were in the middle of plans to organize a critical meeting of Christians in the marketplace when I got the sad news that my Paternal Grandad. Had passed on. He was a frail old man who died at the age of 91. A veteran of the 2nd World War where he was sent along with many others by the British to fight in the Jungles of Burma. Over 280,000 Soldiers were drafted from Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Tanzania to go and fight The Japanese in the Second world war between the periods of 1939 to 1945. In an interview with the press (http://observer.ug/features-sp-2084439083/profile/1651-65-years-laterworld-war-ii-veteran-would-serve-happily) He mentions that he was  drafted into the army at the tender age of 18, in 1942, and recruit number N-122948. He would later be shipped along with several other members of the Kings African Riffles to Pakistan where the Japanese were conducting a massacre against the pakistani allies. There were to late to prevent the massacre and he later succumbed to Malaria before he could witness much combat action and was sent back to Uganda and later discharged from the Army. He would later on become and a mechanic and Bus driver. He got married in 1952. It is not clear if it was the pressure of raising a family or if it was the trauma of war, but he struggled with an alchohol addiction untill he gave his life to Christ in 1974, when the winds of the Great East African Revival were sweeping across the Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Kenya.
He had been a devout christian since, using every opportunity to spread the word of God. He passed on at the age of 91 of diabetes on 24th July last week. He will be surely missed. RIP John Nidoi.

The promises of God and the mystery of the time dimensional scale

Sitting in service on Sunday at KPC(Kampala Pentecostal church) as the Preacher was talking about time he seemed to drive home three points about God’s timing One.. That God’s timing was always the best, then two.. That God is never a second late nor a second early, and three…. That we ought to be patient as we wait for God’s purpose to be fulfilled in our lives.

That is not the only place I heard God’s time being mentioned the whole of Last week, …sitting in the pews of all saints Cathedral, during the session for the intercessors for Uganda, something struck me as peculiar, when Dr. Magara mentioned that God existed before there was time! …I mean just think about it! That God is the one who actually created time as we know it!

Today I’ve been thinking about something that has been somewhat of a conundrum to me.

The Lord has promised Us so many things but why is it that so many times it looks like what the lord has promised us is taking forever to come to fruition?

Why is it ever so easy for a person to lose all hope and say ..well I might as well give up on ever getting that job promotion ...or ..When will my lucky break ever come in life?

Or as sometimes occurs to many singles, when they suddenly think to themselves ...I guess God didn’t have me in mind when he was dreaming up this whole marriage institution! …why is taking so long for me to have my sights on a betrothal?

I have no intention of answering these questions ...only God knows how and why the sovereignty of his will is revealed in every situation in our lives. However trying it may be.

However I do intend on asking more questions!

The bible says his ways are not our ways! …His thoughts are not our thoughts!

Is it possible?... that explaining his intents and purposes ... in every situation in our lives .. To us would be like explaining the internet to ant? (Analogy borrowed from 'purpose driven life')

Are there things about ourselves and the heavenlies, that we will finally be able to understand! ..only and only when we assume our glorified bodies???

Is there the faintest clue that points towards an incongruous disparity between our perceptions of the Universe and those of Our Creator.

Just this morning .. I was sited on the couch catching early morning TV at home in Old Kampala .. The BBC was beaming Images of the latest digitally animated scenario of the so called Big bang theory into my Living room. These random thoughts of these ‘scholars’ unfortunately became food for thought to a viewership of over a billion unsuspecting minds all over the world (..including myself) this morning.

Somehow I just couldn’t help but wonder why truth had to elude so many.

Could it be that the frailty of our mortality as Human beings, has made us blind to the higher truth about both our immediate surroundings, and the greater cosmos? If so ......to what extent are we blind to the truth?

To put all of this in context, one of the most confusing concepts for me is that of time.

The seconds we count so dearly, the days we mark ever so consistently on the calendar, ..the years we slickly thumb through, in the pages of our History books, ..that Golden Jubilee celebration that is ever lurking, just around the corner.

Time to us has become as much a reality to us as the food we eat, ..the oxygen we breathe …the people in our lives ..and so on and so forth, but should it be???

Ought ‘time’ to be as real to us as the noon day sun, or not??

About this concept of time.. We know that God lives outside the dimensions of time and space ...we know God is Timeless ..We know he doesn’t change through the ages ..We know He 's the same Yesterday today and forever ...we know that one thousand years on earth are like a day to the Lord

And we also know that we can perceive a higher truth from God's reality than we can perceive from man's reality

So maybe time may not be as much a reality as we conceive it to be

Let’s assume that as saints ..we shall live for ever in the after life in paradise while everyone else is in the lake of fire for the same period

..In this sense we could liken living our lives to throwing a stone into a dark abyss or a bottomless pit because the stone will never reach the bottom. At some point in time it becomes irrelevant to say that the stone has fallen through a distance of say… x meters because it is irrelevant given the infinite fall and the lack of a point of reference.

In the end the calibration of time in the grand scheme of things is seamingly meaningless or to put t mildly irrelevant.

Then another thing about time is that God resides in all of it. Just Like time is all things to God ..right from a thin chronological slice of time to the the infinite time span of Eternity. To God They are one in the same.

Gods actions and deity can not be confined in the Dimensions of space time ..most especially the finished work on the Cross …that atones for generations past and Future generations to come. This Demotes TIME to mere FACT . much, much, lower than the way we conceive it today…as truth!

So the next time you confess that ‘By His stripes you are healed’ and you are waiting for a relief of your symptoms in the future before you can believe it!

..Or if your mind is reeling in the past over whether similar experiences have yielded truth

...then maybe you might want to relish in the thought …that you have just succumbed to mere facts and just let a higher truth slip past you.

Nothing captures this concept better than the Grammar of the ancient Hebrew. Respected Hebrew Scholars today Agree that Ancient Hebrew ...did not have a provision for the future tense. Therefore all God's Promises To His Chosen people were recanted in the present continuous tense. Like as though they had actually taken place. (..Sound Familiar? ..Call those things that are not as though they are!)

Am I saying that we should negate the importance of time in our day to day lives? ..Surely Goodness no! ...the bible itself says redeem the time for the days are evil

What I am saying is that we should seize every moment in our lives and live to the fullest in Christ and without a care in the world.

We should not allow ourselves to be drawn into the time trap where we wait for future events to take place ..Especially those that we anticipate will bring us joy ..and only and only then do we imagine that we shall surely be happy.

I believe Its Gods will that as we wait for prayer to be answered in our lives ..The passing of time is not to be a fraction of a millionth of our primary concern ..as the sheer truth that God has answered that prayer already.

Let God be God, Let man be man and Let God's will be sovereign!

God in His divine time will bring all things to completion ...but he desires of us that we enjoy every moment of the journey of Faith.

… Conquest by Conquest ...right from when we call upon his name to when He answers us in divine providence. Not simply reserving the joy for the time when the answer has arrived

Well I firmly believe the lord created us with the knowledge that our finite minds can only understand two just about two aspects out about this Universe. Time ...which we have innately learned to perceive as one dimensional ..and then space consisting of three dimensions (the x axis ...the y axis and the ...z axis)

For it was only within the confines of time that our finite minds could dare to to make sense of the chronicles of the universe through the ages! ..To make sense of the different pages of history of our mortal lives! …To have rational thought about who we are as individuals ...a pivot on which to assume some responsibility for our lives.

I’m on a journey just like every other saint in the Kingdom of God to discover God’s purpose for my Life. I've been reading ‘The purpose driven life’ and I’ve come to find out that it's the different things that we value in life that determine our view of life. Those that value time look at it as a race; those that value fun look at it as one huge party;

Only if you valued God would you look at life as a trust a test and a temporary assignment.

C.S Lewis did publish a book in which he chronicled the correspondences between two spirit beings from the devils kingdom ..Well trained in the art of distracting the thoughts of the unsuspecting Christian from the things of God. I leave U with an excerpt from this book 'The Screw tape letters'

"He (the victim) supposes that the Enemy(God), like himself, sees some things as present, remembers the history as past, and anticipates others as future; And even if He believes that the Enemy does not see things that way, yet in his heart of hearts, he regards this as a peculiarity of the Enemy's mode of perception -he doesn’t really think(though he would say he did) that things as the Enemy sees them are as they are! if You tried to explain to Him that men’s prayers today are one of the innumerable co-ordinates with which the Enemy harmonizes the weather of tomorrow, he would reply that then the enemy always knew men were going to make those prayers and if so, they did not pray freely but were predestined to do so. And he would add that the weather on a given day can be traced back through its original causes to the creation of matter itself- so that the whole thing, both on the human an on the material side, is given "from the word go".
